Our major sponsor
We are delighted to announce that Sibelco UK have agreed to be our principal sponsor for the foreseeable future. This ensures that we can continue to base the event at their East Golds Works near Newton Abbot.
Running for charity
£16,000 was given to charity as a consequence of the Dartmoor Vale 2014. Please see the Charity page of this website for details of the amounts given. We hope that runners will wish to use our 2015 event to raise money for their favourite charity and we will again be distributing part of the surplus to those charities, be they large or small.
If you are unable to run for charity, you can still help by ticking the Gift Aid box on the entry form. If you do so (and provided that you are a UK taxpayer) we can claim back fro HM Revenue & Customs Gift Aid on half the amount that you pay, giving us aditional income of about £2. In total, this raised an extra £2,000 all of which goes to Charity. Please take the time to help.

Dartmoor Vale Races
The Dartmoor Vale races will be held this year on 25th October, in association with Sibelco UK. The start and finish will be at the East Gold Works, Newton Road, Newton Abbot. This is opposite the Newton Abbot Racecourse and next to Tesco.
The event includes a marathon, a half marathon and a 10 kilometre race and is now in its ninth year. It is expected that the number of entrants will at least equal those of last year.
Entries are now being accepted from keen runners from any part of the country and beyond. The three races are:
Full marathon, 26.2 miles.
Half marathon, 13.1 miles.
10 kilometre race.
The routes for the marathon and the half marathon take runners out on the roads of the Teign Valley to Chudleigh and back down the leafy country lanes alongside Ugbrooke Park.
The total number of entrants will be limited to 1000. This includes 200 for the marathon, 400 for the half marathon and 400 for the 10k. As last year, we will not have a headline charity but have told charities that they can register their own teams who will raise sponsorship and we will be fund matching.
Fund raising is an essential part of the Dartmoor Vale Races, with runners raising significant sums for charities each year. More than £100 000 has been raised for charities over ten years and a over £40 000 raised by runners for their own charitable causes.
We will not be accepting entries for the races on the day.
The closing date for entries is 6pm Friday 19th October 2014.
Rotary Presidents Words.
The Sibelco Dartmoor Vale 2016 Races which include a Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K race will be held this year on the 30th October. This will be the fourteenth year of the event and we expect that there will be many participants looking forward to this day - we at Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club certainly are. We hope to build on our past successes and once again prove that we can combine a great fun day out with a well organised competitive event, and raise lots of money for chosen charities.
Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club has had the invaluable and generous support of Sibelco UK since 2010, when we moved our start and finish location to their Kingsteignton site. We very much appreciate Sibelco's excellent facilities and the valuable support that Sibelco staff provide both on the day and in the planning stages.
Each year we have benefited from the feedback we have received and our aim is to continue to achieve improvements year on year. Most of the feedback we have received has been very positive.
The economic situation continues to make funding difficult, but also makes the need for giving and the need for fund raising all the greater. All participants are encouraged to find as much sponsorship as possible. Remember that when you raise money and pay it us at Rotary, we will reclaim all the gift aid we can and add this to the payment to your chosen charity, with a further donation from any surplus raised on the event.
The routes for the Marathon and Half Marathon take runners out to Chudleigh then back along country lanes alongside Ugbrooke Park, with the marathoners having to do two laps of the course, while the 10km route takes runners around the roads of Kingsteignton. Minor changes to the routes were made last year due to a new road layout, through the claypits, and these enhanced the route.
This will be a great opportunity to raise funds for your charity, have a great day out, and challenge yourself.
Put this event in your diary, enrol now and begin to prepare yourself - and tell your friends!
We look forward to greeting you on the start line.
