Some feedback from our runners last year...

  • Thank you for a fantastic event. As ever, well organised, great marshalling, and a pleasure to run.
  • Best Regards, Mit freundlichen Gruben, Cordialement, Saludos
  • Thanks to you and your colleagues for a great event yesterday. Everyone was so friendly and it's one I will definitely be back to do again in the future.
  • Hi, great event yesterday!!
  • Many thanks for a great day
  • Thank you for Sunday, it was my first marathon and it was great experience made all the better by the support from the marshals throughout the course really impressed with the organisation for yesterday's races. Already planning to come back next year
  • Just to say a very heartfelt thank you, to you and the wonderful marshals who supported the 10K, half marathon and marathon races on Sunday. Once again the very warm and enthusiastic support from the marshals was enormously appreciated! especially to a very tired runner - and it was a real pleasure to see them as I made my way round the course.
  • I did the marathon in 2013 and again this year and on both occasions have been so impressed by the excellent organisation and friendliness of the event.
  • Can you please relay my thanks to everyone involved.
  • Just want to say thank you and how much I enjoyed the race. Your team did a great job. I won the v40,if I'm back next yr I'll be entering again
  • Had a good day Sunday doing the 10k, thought the course was good and the marshalling and organisation, thanks.

    Our major sponsor

We are delighted to announce that Sibelco UK have agreed to be our principal sponsor for the foreseeable future.  This ensures that we can continue to base the event at their East Golds Works near Newton Abbot.

    Running for charity

£16,000 was given to charity as a consequence of the Dartmoor Vale 2017.  Please see the Charity page of this website for details of the amounts given.  We hope that runners will wish to use our 2015 event to raise money for their favourite charity and we will again be distributing part of the surplus to those charities, be they large or small.

If you are unable to run for charity, you can still help by ticking the Gift Aid box on the entry form.  If you do so (and provided that you are a UK taxpayer) we can claim back, rom HM Revenue & Customs, Gift Aid on half the amount that you pay, giving us aditional income of about £2.  In total, this raised an extra £2,000 all of which goes to Charity.  Please take the time to help.

    Dartmoor Vale Races

The Dartmoor Vale races will be held this year on 25th October, in association with Sibelco UK. The start and finish will be at the East Gold Works, Newton Road, Newton Abbot. This is opposite the Newton Abbot Racecourse and next to Tesco.

The event includes a marathon, a half marathon and a 10 kilometre race and is now in its 13th year. It is expected that the number of entrants will at least equal those of last year.

Entries are now being accepted from runners from any part of the country and beyond. The three races are:

    Full marathon, 26.2 miles.
    Half marathon, 13.1 miles.
    10 kilometre race.

The routes for the marathon and the half marathon take runners out on the roads of the Teign Valley to Chudleigh and back down the leafy country lanes alongside Ugbrooke Park.

The total number of entrants will be limited to 1000. This includes 200 for the marathon, 400 for the half marathon and 400 for the 10k. As last year, we will not have a headline charity but have told charities that they can register their own teams who will raise sponsorship and we will be contribute from our surplus on the event

Fund raising is an essential part of the Sibelco Dartmoor Vale races, with runners raising significant sums for charities each year. More than £150,000 has been raised for charities over the history of the event and over £60,000 raised by runners for their own charitable causes.

We will not be accepting entries for the races on the day.

The closing date for entries is is 6pm Monday 23rd October 2017

The Sibelco Dartmoor Vale races will be held this year on Sunday 29th October. The races are a major event in our calendar, we all enjoy it and we hope that all of you who participate, support your friends and family or just watch, will do so too. Our aim is to combine a great day out with a well organised competitive event, and raise lots of money for a range of charities.

We are very grateful to Sibelco for their generous support throughout these past seven years, providing the site and staff free of charge, and look forward to working with them to deliver this year's races. Each year we have benefited from the feedback we have received and our aim is to continue to achieve improvements year on year.

The economic situation continues to make funding difficult, but makes the need for giving and the need for fund raising all the greater. Please raise as much sponsorship as possible and talk to us about how we can help. The routes for the marathon and Half Marathon take runners out to Chudleigh then back along country lanes alongside Ugbrooke Park, with the marathon runners having to do a second lap of the main course; whilst the 10K route takes runners along the roads of Kingsteignton.

This will be a great opportunity to raise funds for your charity, have a great day out, compete against other athletes, and challenge yourself.

Put the date in your diary, enter now start your preparations and tell your friends.

I look forward to seeing you at the finish line!
